Bernie As Your Coach

Corporate

He’s 65. He’s in his prime.

He is your one-hour keynote speaker at your annual conference.

He is your two-day master trainer helping your people to see more and be more.

He is your fun, process driven facilitator of your annual strategic retreat.

Give him your ego-driven executives and he will manage them beautifully to arrive at a unified visionary plan that will map out your key strategies for the next 12 to 24 months.

Student Leadership & Schools

He is the father of Leadership Development in Australian schools. There is no one better.

Bernie is the Founder of two extraordinary youth leadership development organisations yLead and Global Immersion. The former still serves the development of student leadership in hundreds of schools throughout Australasia.

If Bernie has a single school day with your students, then everyone of them will come to see possibilities that they did not even dream existed. They will understand that leadership has nothing to do with a title. It has everything to do with what you do. They will come to see leadership as a lifestyle, an egoless existence in which you are rewarded for action that makes the world you touch a better place. They will know that this is their higher self. (Those from the Corporate sector will be similarly reminded.)

Recently, Bernie added a third business entity honoured by this website, A Journey With Bernie. It’s a spiritual adventure travel business, hence your invitation to walk with him through Nepal’s Himalayas!

It’s a weekly podcast that is inspiring real traction with thousands tuning in from around the globe for each episode. In essence, A Journey With Bernie is a potential lifestyle through which one explores actions, strategies, disciplines and paradigms that help you to become a more loving and happier human being.

Collectively, Bernie’s powerful experiential leadership programs and processes have touched the lives of approximately 10,000 young and young-at-heart clients, both Corporate and Student, since 1989.

It all started when Bernie was the first and youngest Australian to win a place in ToastMasters World Championship of Public Speaking in 1986. The Internationally renowned Paul Dunn, from the Results Corporation immediately picked him up and marketed Bernie throughout Australasia as a professional seminar speaker trainer. Bernie’s reputation as a super-effective and inspirational coach accelerated. His experiences in so many different dimensions meant that he was blessed with awarenesses not common to his coaching peers. Plus, he was fun, emotive and transparent.

Bernie represented Queensland at Cricket at both Under 19 and Under 23 level and professionally coached clubs in both London and the Netherlands.

He ran the New York Marathon in 3 hours and 16 minutes.

He’s climbed to the ‘Roof of Africa’ – Kilimanjaro – 15 times between the ages of 41 and 58.

He has been to Everest Base Camp 7 times. In Oct 2022, he ascended Nepal’s highest trekkable peak – Mount Mera at 6400 metres (see picture at left).  He has hiked the Salkantay trek to Machu Picchu on 3 occasions and trekked the Camino of Northern Spain twice. His adventures are responsible for 1,256 fellow adventurers doing similarly.

These adventures speak of his passionate spirit for life, but it is his heart that you also need to hear. In May of 2022, he celebrated the completion of a new two-story school for 322 disabled children in earthquake-ravaged Nepal. One year later, the school now serves 600 students.

Bernie has inspired the construction of a community hall for three primary schools at the foot of Kilimanjaro and a Science Block for the notable ‘School of St Jude’ in Tanzania. Over 100 ‘poorest of the poor’ students have found a quality tertiary education and become doctors and engineers inspired by Bernie’s philanthropic leadership.

In 2009, Bernie Kelly was awarded the Pride of Australia Medal for 20 years of outstanding service to the youth of this country, and in 2013 the Golden Key Society that serves the world’s brightest university academics awarded Bernie an honourable membership for his outstanding work in the field of leadership development. It is the same award that has been received by ex-President Bill Clinton and Nelson Mandela. He has been nominated for Queenslander of the Year twice, and was a 2017 Australian of the Year nominee.

Bernie Kelly is evidence that it is possible to answer one’s calling. To do what one is meant to do. For most, it is the road less travelled. For Bernie, it is now the fullness of life.
